How MEDIA Score Works
Calculation methodology
MEDIA Score™ v3 computes the score per media type with specific weights for critics, audience and consensus (e.g. movies 40/40/20), plus a Bayesian estimator that pulls titles with few votes toward the catalog average. Consensus feeds the score and the confidence level is shown transparently.
Data sources and score normalization
We use TMDB, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, TVMaze, Letterboxd, Trakt, IGDB, OpenCritic, Steam, and SteamSpy as primary sources. Each raw score is normalized to the 0-100 scale.
Data sources and coverage
MEDIA Rate integrates sources by media type: TMDB and IMDb (movies and series), Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, Letterboxd and Trakt (movies and series), TVMaze (series), IGDB, OpenCritic, Steam and SteamSpy (games).
Confidence level and score transparency
Each MEDIA Score displays a confidence indicator (High / Medium / Low), calculated based on vote volume, number of sources, score dispersion, and data age.

Navigation by category and genre
The MEDIA Rate catalog allows filtering by media type (Movies, Series, Games), genre, release year, and sorting by score, title, or date.

Each title has a detail page with: poster, synopsis, cast, genres, release year, streaming platforms, and detailed MEDIA Score.
Series seasons and episodes
Series feature season navigation (horizontal tabs) and episodes (expandable list). Each episode can have its own score when available.
