What is MEDIA Rate
MEDIA Rate is a platform that aggregates ratings from public sources — such as TMDB, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, TVMaze, IGDB, OpenCritic, and Steam — into a single consolidated score, the MEDIA Score™. Instead of checking multiple sites to decide if a movie, series, or game is worth your time, you find the context in one place.
What MEDIA Rate is not
MEDIA Rate is not a review nor an editorial opinion. The MEDIA Score™ does not reflect an author's taste — it is a transparent aggregation of public ratings, with an open and verifiable methodology. Each score displays its sources, confidence level, and how much critics and audiences agree.
Categories covered today
The current focus is on three categories: Movies, Series, and Games.
- Movies: aggregated scores from TMDB, IMDb, and Rotten Tomatoes.
- Series: including anime — covered as a genre within Series, with data from TMDB and TVMaze.
- Games: scores from IGDB, OpenCritic, and Steam.
How MEDIA Score™ works
MEDIA Score™ v3 computes the rating per media type with specific weights (critics, audience and consensus) and a Bayesian estimator that pulls titles with few votes toward the catalog average. Consensus feeds the score; the confidence level (High/Medium/Low) and the full methodology are documented on the methodology page.
Transparency & compliance
Every MEDIA Score™ displays its sources and confidence level. No score is hidden — low-confidence scores are flagged, never suppressed. We comply with data protection regulations: you can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time.
Languages
MEDIA Rate is available in three languages: Portuguese (Brazil), English (US), and Spanish (Spain). Use the language selector in the top-right corner to switch at any time.
What's next
Books and comics/manga are on the roadmap and will arrive as dedicated categories in a future update. Today the focus is on Movies, Series, and Games — the three categories with full source coverage and consolidated scores.
